Mirror osu mania что это

This would be very relieving for left handed mania players, because of 3 reasons:
Column balance
There is quite a few maps that (mostly unintential) have more notes on the right side than on the left (vice versa also exists, but is very rare).
Here is an example of a well-mapped beatmap that has a strong hand imbalance (45/55)
Ofcourse overall column balance should be a ranking criteria, but sometimes its just part of the mapping style.
Anchors
An anchor, for those who don't play mania, is when a pattern has a particularly high amount of notes in the same column, in regular spacing. I have observed that righthanded mappers tend to (unconsciously) put the majority of anchors on the right side, just as I have obeserved myself doing the opposite (since I am lefthanded). Playing an anchor on the right as a lefthanded player (or vice versa) feels awkward to play for obvious reasons.
Here is an example of a pattern with an anchor
on/off-hand patterns
This refers to patterns where all/most on-beat notes are on one hand while the off-beat notes are on the other. The most common example for this would be double trills in 4k, but thats not the only one.
Here is an example of a less common pattern that is easy if you're right-handed but very awkward if you're left-handed
Now I know what you're thinking, "one should be able to play both left-handed and right-handed patterns" and yes thats correct since almost all maps have both, but that argument only works if the amounts of righthanded and lefthanded patterns were about equal, which unfortunately isn't the case since the majority of mappers are right-handed.
A mirror mod would be the perfect solution for both of these problems, there's already a couple players that made their own workarounds for this (eg Urusai plays with upscroll enabled and his monitor upside down to mirror the stage, and I myself have already played with a physical mirror next to my monitor a few times.
I don't see why you'd make it unranked. Mirror should be ranked just like upscroll, and I would have even suggested mirror to be part of the skin instead of a mod, if it wasn't for the fact that there are a couple left-weighted maps too.
As underjoy pointed out, a mirror mod would require true 8k and 7+1k to be clearly distinguished (so that in 7+1 it only flips the 7 main keys while in true 8 it flips all 8), otherwise it results in an alteration of patterns which can be abused (and is the reason why the random mod needs to stay unranked). other than that the only issue with implementing a mirror mod i see is players using it to escape mindblocks, but whether or not thats a bad thing is kind of an open question.
Pretty obvious. This flips the columns so left becomes right and vice versa.
Pro:
- Mostly in 5/7K. Left-handed players (those that usually press middle column by left hand) can play maps designed for right-handed players (those where left 2/3 columns are for something and right 3/4 columns are for another thing). Flipping it makes the left 3/4 columns be for something, which suits the division of hands (left controlling more).
- Similar to above; difficult patterns by the worse hand (occur a lot in translated diffs from osu!std) can be moved to the better hand.
Mirror (mod)
The Mirror mod is game modifier for osu!mania that attempts to aid left-hand-dominant players in playing beatmaps that were originally mapped with right-handed patterns in-mind. The mod achieves this by reflecting the notes across a virtual y-axis that runs down the middle of the osu!mania keyboard. I.e., it "mirrors" the notes. Specifically, the mirroring of notes is as follows:
Comparison between a regular play (left) vs. a play with the Mirror mod enabled (right) in osu!mania
The reasoning behind this is that many osu!mania beatmaps are mapped by right-hand-dominant creators, and thus many of the beatmaps patterns are made to be more comfortable to right-hand-dominant osu!mania players. Thus, many left-hand-dominant players—particularly higher-ranking ones—feel that the mirrored note placement caused by the mod allows their left-hand to be utilized more effectively.
Explanations and resources for getting started with osu!mania - A guide
NOTE: I am far more experienced in 4K, if any other keymode players would like to help me add something to the guide that would assist players getting into that keymode, it would be much appreciated :)
Osu!Mania, like the other modes, has a unique system of grading your scores.
You can miss and still get an S, so in that sense this method of scoring is most similar to CTB out of the other modes.
Another difference is that unlike Standard, Mania has 6 different scoring values.
Rainbow/Max 300 - Highest possible value (NOTE: Gives 320 points)
200/Great - The Mania equivalent of a 100 in Standard
100/Good - A middle ground between 200 and 50 (These are common when you misread a pattern)
50/Bad - The Mania equivalent of a 50 in Standard, if you mash a pattern these will come up often
Miss/Boo - Just what it sounds like, a miss.
Hard Rock - Makes the timing windows tighter and increases HP drain, does not affect Scroll Speed (UNRANKED)
Fade-In - Makes the notes appear only at the bottom of your screen, the higher your combo, the less visible the notes become, decreasing the visibility every 100 combo until capping at 500
Hidden - Makes the notes only appear on the upper half of your screen, just like fade in, the higher the combo, the less visibility you have, increasing every 100 combo, capping at 500.
Flashlight - Notes are only visible in a small portion of the screen
Co-Op - Doubles the amount of keys so a friend can play with you (Or if you want to play 10K-18K maps, UNRANKED)
Random - Shuffles the notes around to random spots, allowing you to play an essentially new map (UNRANKED)
Osu!Mania is unique among the other modes in the sense that it has several different modes inside of it, we refer to these as Keymodes. The only ranked keymodes are 4K-9K, and with these sets of keys that play in very different ways, many varied styles of play are developed. To change your key bindings, simply search for osu!mania layout in the options menu. With different keymodes, come different skillsets, but some of them transfer over to others. For instance, if you learn 7K, you will be able to pick up 6K or 5K more effectively than if you just started off with them, though you will most likely not be at the same skill level as your 7K ability, you will have a better grasp on your finger independence.
