Как редактировать сохранение в hearts of iron 4
[EDIT]
Nvm that doesn't seem to be the case with hoi4 savefiles.

Open 'Documents\Paradox Interactive\Hearts of Iron IV\settings.txt' with a text editor and change 'save_as_binary=yes' to 'save_as_binary=no'.But . is there a downside? I noticed that loading savegames is almost instant in HOI IV (or is that bc I have an SSD or. ) is it because they'e binary saved?

Maybe loading times will increase a bit over time, but for now my saved games are up and ready to go in a blink of an eye compared to HOI3.tombinks

The binary fix worked. but seems the save game files then cannot be opened in the game after ANY modification. Anyone else finding this?Says "This game is from another version of the game and cannot be loaded"

I get the same thing. It seems if you edit anything and then try to save the file, you cannot load it any longer.

Anyone else have words of wisdom before I try this? I want to make Finland more friendly before Barbarossa (did not realise you had to align them so much to get them to join faction).
Not exactly my plan to tweak the save and also ruin it at the same time

You can always go into the save folder, copy the save game file you wish to edit, paste it into the same folder, and name it Finland-edit or something. Your original will still work.

After ensuring that binary save was set to 'no' in settings.txt (I had problems because this file kept getting overwritten and my line edit kept being reset to 'yes') when loading the game, I successfully saved the game to plain text. I then edited my save to modify the skill levels of various German generals, saved the file, then loaded it into my game with no trouble at all. YMMV. Be sure, for the sake of safety, to create backups of whatever save game you're trying to edit just in case you have problems.
PS - Do not change the ranks of any generals that have traits. FM and "corps commander" do not have the same set of traits.

The "save_as_binary=no" fix doesen't work for me because I cant seem to stop the setings.txt from overwritting it to "save_as_binary=yes", does anyone know how to stop this?Achiles

How did you prevent the settings file from being overwritten?

Why would you ask this question?
1) To fix issues caused by any reason, ex. a bugged event assigned a flag to a province/state that should not have been assigned.
2) To change the setup of provinces, from buildings to infrastructure, for any reason - either for the player or for the AI (ex. to assist the AI in posing bigger challenge when you end up going to war with it).
3) To gain an unfair advantage over the AI (also known as "cheating").
4) To edit various settings and data from the game, including, but not limited to - troops, templates, industrial capacity etc., both for the player and for the AI, depending on the intents of the player.
These are the 4 most common reasons I could think of in under 10 seconds of why people would want to edit their save games.
I have often been forced to edit my games due to game glitches, illogical design etc. etc. over the years playing many Paradox titles. It gives good control & customization ability over the game and it's really good to have this for people who want to use it. That's like asking why would people play with mods? Obviously to play the game in different ways, with different settings and different setup.

One of the most common things I did with HoI2 saves was to teleport a few US and UK divisions into Calabria or Normandy because the AI would never invade Italy or launch D-Day by itself.jcpvdberg

Так называемые "мои сохраненки" лежат тут: C:\Users\Имя пользователя\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Hearts of Iron IV\save games
Is there a way to backup Ironman saves?
I currently have a very nice game with Greece, it’s the farthest I’ve gone and I’m afraid I’ll fuck it up somehow. Is there a way to make a copy of the save and put it somewhere else so if I do fuck up, I can replace the file with the backup?
New comments cannot be posted and votes cannot be castYes, but only if you play on local ironman, not on the cloud.
If so, you go to My Documents\Paradox Games\Hoi4\saved games You can copy the save you want into another folder.
To reload the save, there may be an easiest way, but mine is the following :
overwrite the save with the backup
launch the game
chose "continue" instead of Load game
I think that the saves are encrypted in a form that they will overwrite every .hoi4 savegame with the name that you gave when you started the game, I mean, if you copy your .hoi4 savegame and paste in another folder, the game is still going to overwrite it, so copy your .hoi4 save game, put it in another folder and change the name, now if you fuck something just go to that folder copy that save game and paste it on the save games folder, delete the save game that you just fucked and change the name of the save game you just paste to the one you just deleted.
