Hi guys, hopefully someone can help me.
I worked out how to setup my own RTCW-COOP server last weekend and have really enjoyed playing the story maps with other people through the week.
Today I worked out how to install maps other users have converted and have managed to get some working; radar, project51, rocketbase.
However others like afrika, wotan and timegate are giving me messages like this when I try to load the map in the server.
Any ideas what could be causing this? They have all been downloaded from the same websites and installed in the same directory as the working maps.

I do have "seta sv_allowDownload" set to "1", if that's what you mean? I can't seem to find another setting that points to a link.
I don't actually have any custom maps stored locally, they are all on the server side and as mentioned radar, project51 and rocketbase load on the server without downloading anything. (I've uploaded the .pk3 straight to the RTCW "main" folder on my VPS)
The other maps are uploaded the same way but don't seem to work. :( There must be something I'm missing?
16 мар. 2019 в 3:49I should note, if I do "/spmap" and type the map name whilst playing on the server, it'll disconnect me but load the map fine? When I try "/coopmap" it'll come up with the download error.
Again it's only afrika, wotan and timegate giving this error.

It worked! Thank you so much!
I uploaded the maps to my public website folder, pointed to the path with "seta sv_dlURL" and when I typed "/coopmap" it downloaded the map and loaded!
Just a quick question, is there any security concerns about doing it this way?
16 мар. 2019 в 7:14 I don't think so, it always worked like that in these games, and it's still like this with modern source ports (client just downloads server files, you're the server owner so I expect you don't make people download weird stuff :P) 16 мар. 2019 в 7:54Okay great, and don't worry I won't be making people download "weird" stuff.

It's probably not as advanced as other servers but it's the only one online atm. I'll leave it running even when I'm offline now I know all the maps are working.
Honestly I've not had as much fun playing a game for a long time, so this is awesome.
Currently my server is just called "RTCW CO-OP Server" in red, white & blue.. but I may end up adding my own tag.
Feel free to pop online if you still play.
It's always great to see a new "RtCW Coop" server up and running, Shrill. If you give me the "ip" address we can start tracking your server with "Splatterladder".
You can then see all the individual player stats and also create your own server banners that you can use on websites and other social media in order to advertise it.

That looks great, thank you! Looks like a lot more statistics are recorded than game-state's tracker so I'll be sure to add a new banner to my website.
My Server is hosted in the Netherlands, but I prefer to put UK as the latency is barely noticeable and it'll usually attract more English speakers.

1) Запускаем Тангл и входим в комнату Return To Castle Worlfenstein - Cooperative Gameplay Mod .
2) Запускаем файл rtcwcoop.exe (в папке с игрой)
Создание сервера к Игре:
1) Create Server => Указываем параметры игры, в поле Game type указываем Cooperative, в поле Dedicated указываем LAN (Сеть) => жмем Start Server и ждем остальных игроков.
Подключение к игре:
1) Join Game => Указываем желаемый ник => Тип подключения - Local => Выбираем сервер из списка.
2) Так же можно заходить напрямую, по IP (если серверов не видно), для этого в консоль прописываем /connect IP (где IP - адрес сервера, к примеру : /connect 7.23.114.225 )

Start the game and. TA-DAA:
Don't forget to enable the PunkBuster on the screen above! Or if you prefer the console way (
for QWERTY keyboards, ² for AZERTY ones), check the value of /cl_punkbuster, if not 1 type /seta cl_punkbuster 1.
[NOT REQUIRED ANYMORE] If at this point it still doesn't work.Check that:
- You started the Notepad as admin.
- You saved the file WITHOUT a txt extension.
Open the hosts file and check the line you've added is there, without typos.
Verify your game is present as an exception in your firewall.
Check that the CD Key is present in the settings: see the top of the section below.
If after these checks, you still have no server list. Well, you're part of a few group of users ^^'
Let's hope it will be OK, I haven't tried it myself.
Now, we have a server list. BUT there are still several details you need to know to play without experiencing issues, like kicks :)
It seems some people doesn't have the CD Key in the settings by default, and thus get banned on well-protected servers until it is entered.
Fire up the MP mode, and check in Options, CD Key.
If it isn't there, browse the Main folder and open the file rtcwkey in the Notepad: it contains the key.
Note that the last field is empty, that's normal. The key is 16 chars long.

Several server are running Shrubmod (Fun Mod) or OSP (Comp Mod), and may also have custom maps in their rotation, and custom content (models, sounds, . ).
But, by default, the game doesn't allow the download of custom content, and there's no entry in the GUI to enable it.
To enable the client download system, open up the console (
for QWERTY keyboards, ² for AZERTY ones), and type:
/seta cl_allowdownload 1
When started it runs in the background (see the icon in the taskbar), and when a file need to be downloaded, it will close the game, download for you the file(s), then restart the game.
Some servers forced certain cvar values, because they can potentially advantage.
Even default values can be forced to an other value or range of values.
This section is (should be) temporarily empty, I will (should) shortly add the concerned cvars.
If you get kicked due to a cvar value, read the message: you should see if it's due to a cvar or something else. Then, open up the console: you'll find further details, with the cvars and values concerned :)
Well, not that advanced, but you probably don't know about them if you're following that guide, and you'll need the console (or add launch parameters, or edit directly the wolfconfig_mp.cfg file).
Draw the FPS counter
/seta cg_drawfps 1
Modify the FPS cap (90 by default)
The usual value is 125, fyi.
/seta com_maxfps 125
Change the Field of View (FOV - 90 by default)
I think the max allowed is 120 in RtCW, but I use 110. You'll see if you get kicked because of it :)
Don't worry, you'll not get kicked with a value of 110!
/seta cg_fov 110
When you'll browse the server list, you'll probably join servers with bots, while you're looking for real players. Unfortunately, the ingame browser can't filter out the bot servers, but there are trackers online who do :)
Click on sl.Serverlist, then gameversion, and tick RtCW 1.40/1.41 to only display RtCW servers.
Then, in Properties, second column third item, you can filter out Bots on Server by ticking until you have a red cross.
As a last recommendation, here is a populated server the evening, with usually 30+ players, ECGNetwork: 64.237.36.250:27960
To join it, open up the console and type /connect ip; Copy/paste works in this engine :)

Myself and 2 friends have a private funded MP server running the beach map. You can /connect 46.165.204.172:27960 in console. Bots too if no humans around. Enjoy.
This is basically what I did today, and I've been able to play, without being kicked by the PB :)
Suggestions, issues, comments are welcome :) The FileFront links may not work for some because they banned some countries a while ago, if really a lot of users have this issue I'll add more links after testing what I'll find ^^'
