In this tutorial you will find steps to make x360ce work with Mad Max. This method also works with any game – just do the same easy steps, no special skills needed to make any controller work as an Xbox 360 gamepad. Emulator allows your controller (joystick, wheel, gamepad, etc.) to operate as the most common device, recognized by most of the games without any additional settings and workarounds.
1. The first step is to download x360ce zip file from official site. You have to select 32 or 64 bit version (same as the version of Mad Max you use). If you don’t know the version of your game or download wrong one accidentally, you will be notified later and have a chance to use another version.
2. Now we have to find the installation folder of your game. You can easily do this by looking into game shortcut settings or finding the game in your Steam library list. If you choose the Steam variant, right click the game name and select “Properties”.
3. Navigate to “Local files” tab and press “Browse local files. ” button.
4. Now you need to find the folder with Mad Max executable. In the example picture they are located in Binaries / Retail subfolder. You need to extract downloaded x360ce ZIP file to folder with your game executable file.
5. Click on x360ce exe file with the right mouse button and select “Run as administrator” from dropdown menu.
6. You will see window with warning – “xinput 1_3.dll was not found. This file is required for emulator to function properly.” Don’t worry, just click “Create” button to make them appear.
7. When x360ce will inform you that new device was detected, use automatic search for settings from internet – just hit “Next” button.
8. Click “Finish”, when installation completed.
9. Hit the “Auto” button to make all settings set to defaults. Confirm changes by clicking “Yes” in popup window. All the buttons will be filled automatically.
10. Now just hit “Save” button to make all your settings saved. You can also change buttons assignment before hitting “Save”, if you like.
Now you can normally launch Mad Max and use your controller with x360ce emulator – it will be starting automatically with each game launch.

How to properly setup your controller using x360ce to play Mad Max

This howto was tested on 64-bit Windows platform. If you've tried this on 32bit, please let me know so I could update this guide.

- Extract the executable file x360ce_x64.exe into your game folder (for example c:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Mad Max\.
- Launch it as administrator (right click -> run as administrator). First it will tell you the xinput file is not found. Just click Create button.
- Then it will tell you about new device blah-blah search for settings. The optimal here is to automatically search for settings on the Internet. Click Next and click Finish in the next window. You can try your controls in this window and check everything is working properly.
- Now to the most important part: open the Game settings tab as shown with the red arrow on the screenshot below.
- Make sure the Mad Max is selected (orange arrow).
- Make all the checkboxes in your x360ce to look like the ones in the pinky frame on the screenie.
- When it's done, click the button marked with black arrow and click OK in the opened window.
- Close the app and start the game.
Just wanted to let anyone using this guide that I used xinputfile 64-bit v 9.1 and I didn't need the others.

Ooh, there're a lot of others :) Mostly they're the cheap ones which are only support direct input while native PS or XBOX controllers working with XInput so they don't need any extra software.
My Ps3, Ps4, xbox 360, and xbox one controllers all worked on the game just fine. What other controllers are you talking about?
This how-to is for X360 emulator which is required for some gamepads to be properly recognized by the game.

4 сен. 2015 в 16:37Please help this game isn't recognizing my controller (Logitech Cordless Rumblepad 2), I tried using x360ce but nothing. I have no problem with playing it w/ keyboard n mouse but I think the game is meant to be played with a gamepad.

Hey guys, i already fixed the problem.
Copy xinput1_3.dll and paste it in the same carpet, then change the name to xinput1_1.dll.
Repeat this till you have in the carpet:

That helped me, now mine rumblepad 2 finally works ;)

Rember to setup these settings for all .exe files and save. In my case it helps: x360ce_x64.exe, MadMax.exe, x360ce.exe.
