Blizzes are hostile mobs that can be found in cold environments. They are water elementals, just like Blazes are fire elementals. They have a cold and icy look, and produce snowball particles. Blizzes make loud, cold breathing noises, as well as a noise that sounds like ice crackling.
A pack of Blizzes is called a Blizzard.
Spawning
Blizzes can spawn in any cold and/or snowy biomes in the Overworld, in spots with a light level of 8 or darker. They usually spawn in packs of 1-4. Packs of Blizzes are about ten times as rare as packs of mobs like Zombies, Skeletons, Spiders and Creepers. This means packs of Blizzes are about as rare as packs of Endermen.
Note: Blizz spawning is very configurable. This page only describes how Blizzes spawn using the default settings.
Spawning
Basalzes spawn in mountainous and/or barren biomes such as extreme hills. They spawn on solid blocks at light level 8 or less. Basalzes spawn in groups of 1-4 and are rarer than most other mobs.
Drops
When killed, Basalzes drop 0-1 piles of Pulverized Obsidian and 0-1 Basalz Rods. They will drop more items if a sword with the Looting enchantment is used.
Basalz Rods can be used to create Basalz Powder, which is a critical ingredient for creating Petrotheum Dust and, ultimately, Tectonic Petrotheum.
Appearance
Basalzes closely resemble blazes. This is because both mobs are elementals, with blazes being fire elementals and basalzes being earth elementals.
Instead of smoke, basalzes produce small dust particles.
Basalzes make muffled breathing sounds, as well as a sound that sounds like falling stones.
Usage
Basalz Rods only have a single use: they can be crafted or pulverized into Basalz Powder. This material is a critical ingredient for creating Petrotheum Dust and, ultimately, Tectonic Petrotheum.

They have a rocky look, and produce dark-colored dust particles. Basalzes make muffled breathing noises, as well as a noise that sounds like falling pieces of rock.

Blizz Rods can be used to create Blizz Powder, which is a critical ingredient for creating Cryotheum Dust and, ultimately, Gelid Cryotheum.
Behavior
When idle, Basalzes randomly wander around on the ground. When they see a player or a Villager, they start flying and attacking. Basalzes attack by shooting several rocky bolts that can apply a weakness effect in addition to dealing damage. They then wait a few seconds before shooting again.
Basalz Rod
Basalz Rods are mob drops added by Thermal Foundation. They are sometimes dropped when a Basalz is killed. Essentially, they are the Basalz equivalent of Blaze Rods.
Drops
When killed by a player, basalzes may drop up to two pieces of pulverized obsidian, and may drop one basalz rod. They drop more items if a Looting enchanted weapon is used.

Behavior
When idle, a basalz wanders around on the ground. When it sees a player, it starts flying and attacking. Basalzes attack by shooting “basalz bolts”, which are projectiles that deal damage and may apply the effect Weakness II for 5 seconds.
Behavior
When idle, Blizzes randomly wander around on the ground. When they see a player or a Blaze, they start flying and attacking. Blizzes attack by shooting several icy bolts that can apply a slowness effect in addition to dealing damage. They then wait a few seconds before shooting again.
Blizzes do more damage to entities that are marked 'immune to fire', like most mobs from the Nether.
