Welcome to TheGamer’s Persona 5 Royal walkthrough. Here, we’re gonna be guiding you through all ten playable months of the game, making sure you’ll make it to the true ending with all confidant ranks and social stats maxed out— not to mention popping that shiny platinum on your first run of the game.
Updated April 18, 2021 by Meg Pelliccio: This guide has been updated with more accurate information and more in-depth instructions as to what to do each day. Now included are the recommended conversational options to choose from during confidant and job events to ensure you reach maximum stats by the end of your playthrough.

A few things to note going into this walkthrough:
- This walkthrough is a modified version of this guide , optimized for further efficiency and combat effectiveness.
- All confidant rank-ups are dependent on you bringing a persona of a matching arcana when spending time with them. With the exception of Rank 1 and Rank 10, if you forget to do this even once it’ll set your schedule back— sometimes catastrophically, depending on the confidant. We will note which personas you should have equipped — this means just having them in Joker's stock of on-hand personas, rather than actually currently equipped as the active persona. (However, the Sun and Moon confidants do not require matching personas.)
- This walkthrough is based on normal difficulty — you might find yourself having a hard time keeping up on higher difficulty modes.
- As it’s not possible to 100% the Thieves Den achievements on your first run, we’ll be guiding you through popping as many of them as possible, but it will not be a main focus like the PS4 trophies.
- This guide will be running on the assumption that you’re choosing a platonic route with all the romanceable characters to accommodate everyone — if you find yourself progressing faster with your romanced confidant than the guide plans for, use the extra day as a free slot. (However, we recommend romancing at least one teammate to acquire the PS4 trophy, even if you decide to reload and proceed with the platonic route.)
- The number of music notes that appear for social stat increases is not the number of points earned. For example, one music note means you have earned two points, two music notes mean you have earned three or four points, and three music notes mean you have earned between five and ten points.
All set? Let’s get started.
Persona 5 Royal April Walkthrough
Those of you who’ve played the original Persona 5 will know that April is the month of cutscenes. The game will ease you into the flow of things slowly, which means you won’t have as much freedom of choice/movement until the first palace infiltration starts in earnest.
There’s not much to keep in mind for April — you’re mostly going to be focusing on starting all the available confidants and starting to rank up your social stats.

Confidants of each Arcana are made available over the course of the game. They allow the player to access new abilities as they raise their Confidant rank. There are moments that spending time with your chosen Confidant is not enough to improve your rank, especially with female characters. You need to buy them gifts to make sure that they will rank up when you interact with them next time.
Note that raising the confidant level of certain female characters will unlock a romantic relationship with them, allowing you to view special cutcenes. It is even possible to achieve a romance state with all possible partners during a playthrough which results in a unique and humorous event.
List of Confidant Guides
Below is a summary of all the Confidants in the game, including their starting date, time, and location. Click on a confidant to go to their guide page for information on how to increase their rank, unlocked abilities, and special events.
Serious and cynical, but kind Sojiro Sakura is the Hierophant confidant in Persona 5 Royal: here's a spoiler-free guide to his confidant ranks.
Serious and cynical, Sojiro Sakura is the owner of the Leblanc Café who becomes Joker's caretaker upon the latter's probational move to Tokyo. Though Sojiro is initially cold towards Joker due to his criminal background, he eventually warms up to his new lodger, even teaching him how to brew coffee and make curry. Here is a spoiler-free guide on his confidant in Persona 5 Royal.
Availability
Sojiro will become available on 4/20. If the protagonist does not manually initiate a conversation with him, the first ranked event will happen on 5/6. He can always be found standing behind the counter at the Leblanc Café.
He is available at night every day except Wednesday. On rainy days, he is also available during the day.
Perks
- Rank 2 || Coffee Basics: Allows you to make coffee which slightly restores SP to one ally. (+30 SP to one ally.)
- Rank 4 || Leblanc Curry: Allows you to make curry that slightly restores SP to all allies. (+20 SP to the entire party, including non-combatants.)
- Rank 6 || Coffee Mastery: Allows you to make coffee which greatly restores SP to one ally. (+100 SP to one ally.)
- Rank 9 || Curry Tips: Allows you to make curry that moderately restores SP to all allies. (+30 SP to one ally only when not in combat.)
- Rank 10 || Curry Mastery : Allows you to make curry that greatly restores SP to all allies. (+100 SP to one ally only when not in combat.)
Rank-Up Events
As with every confidant, having a persona of a corresponding arcana will increase the number of points you earn with them by one. The point increases with a Hierophant persona on hand are indicated in brackets next to the regular increases as such:
Prompt 1) point values for answers a, b, c [point values with matching persona]
In addition, Sojiro is one of the confidants where scoring high on exams will also provide a bonus. Ranking first in the entire school will give you 1.5x affinity points, while ranking within the top ten will give 1.2x. This stacks with the bonuses from having a matching persona. If you’re receiving bonus points on top of 3 points already, you will still see only three musical notes but gain more within the actual mechanics.
Rank 1
The only prompt that awards affinity points is the phone call at the end of the event:
Rank 2
Rank 3
Note that Sojiro will ask you to brew coffee at least once before this event.
