Persona 5
The requests in Persona 5 are side missions taking place in Mementos, some of which are needed to progress Confidant Ranks. After finding out a target's name in the real world, the Phantom Thieves can find and defeat the target's Shadow in Mementos in a boss fight to make the target have a change of heart. Doing so will reward the group with an item.
Aside from the first mission, "Beware the Clingy Ex-boyfriend," which acts as a tutorial mission, other missions are received through Yuuki Mishima's chat messages, certain Confidants or certain part time jobs. Due to plot reasons, the missions can only be accessed up until December 23rd.
Several Mementos bosses are susceptible to the Confusion ailment. This weakness is one of the fastest methods to obtain money in Persona 5. A boss confused with the spell Pulinpa by a Persona with Confuse Boost and a high Luck stat can drop up to 150,000 yen per turn at around a Luck value of 70.
Some of these targets can be seen or interacted with in the overworld and outside of cutscenes. Yumeko Mogami can be seen recording and stalking a student at Shujin Academy, Yohei Kiritani appears as an unsuspecting beggar at the Shibuya Station and Shiro Asakura can be seen harassing a woman in Shinjuku before and after his heist request.
Persona 5 Royal
While retaining all of the requests from the original Persona 5, several new requests have been added in Persona 5 Royal. Furthermore, if the conditions to progress the game into the Third Semester has been fulfilled, the requests can be done until February 1st although they cannot be completed during December 24th. Some of the new requests require the party to knock down their target and must converse with them by correctly choosing dialogue responses to complete the request rather than defeating them, akin to Negotiation (it is impossible to defeat them by reducing their HP to zero).
For the requests' targets that were located in the last Area of their respective paths, they will be confronted at Areas in the Path of Da'at instead of their original locations during the Third Semester if they were not done prior to December 23rd.

Persona 5
The Palace for everyone's hearts.
Unlike other Palaces, exploring Mementos is optional, although it can be used for grinding on levels, items, money and Personas. Either way, spending time to explore is strongly recommended in order to cut a significantly huge amount of time reaching its depths when it becomes a necessity late in the game. Exploring it is also required to advance various Confidants, as heist requests related to their story will be issued, which must be cleared before they can be progressed further.
Mementos is divided into multiple "paths," each of which has its own unique architecture and floors, referred as "areas." They are randomly generated and areas open up as the fame of the Phantom Thieves grows with each Palace they defeat.
Its enemies are affected by weather in the real world:
- Thunderstorm: Increases appearance of rare enemies and items.
- Torrential rain: Same as thunderstorm, but to a greater effect.
- Pollen warning: Enemies may fall asleep in dungeons and request Eye Drops in negotiation.
- Heatwave: Enemies may suffer Burn at the beginning of battle and request a drink in negotiation.
- Flu Season: Enemies may suffer Despair at the beginning of battle and request Hand Warmalizers in negotiation.
- Cold Wave: Enemies may suffer Freeze at the start of battle. (Royal only)
All bad weather conditions (save for Cold Wave) also boost the appearance rate of Treasure Demons, chests and rare search items.
Final Heist: Mementos
Main article: Depths of MementosWhile the surface is initially an optional place meant for training, the depths serve as the final dungeon of Persona 5, when Yaldabaoth unleashes the final setup to his absolute domination. Shadow Selves and the will of the masses are imprisoned in this high security prison, which its inmates refer to as the ultimate realization of their happiness.
Persona 5 Royal
The old BGM of Mementos now only plays in the first two paths. Several new BGMs have been added for the lower levels of the dungeon. Additionally, a new form of currency, flowers, is made available, which can be only redeemed in Jose's Shop; they disappear once the group leaves Mementos.
During the third semester, Takuto Maruki, if the protagonist maxed out his confidant during the previous months, uses Mementos to change all of reality with his actualization powers, allowing him to create a world devoid of all suffering and progress. It is confirmed by Lavenza that the Phantom Thieves themselves taught him what they want and the protagonist taught him about Mementos, so when this time comes, they all consent to his reality. Maruki's Palace directly ties to Mementos via a towering line of tentacle-like cables, which he uses to transmit information to and from Mementos in a place called the Cognition Control Room. These cables also barricade the second half of the Palace and must be lifted from Mementos to allow progress. Futaba Sakura hacks into the system and removes the barricade, allowing progress through the entirety of Maruki's Palace.
Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth
Mementos appears briefly during the prologue sequence, where the Phantom Thieves are seen making a routine trip.

Requests
Main article: Mementos RequestsMementos is also the setting of missions, referred to as "requests." After finding out a target's name in the real world, the group must find and defeat the target's shadow in Mementos in a boss fight to make the target have a Change of Heart.
"Beware the Clingy Ex-boyfriend" acts as a tutorial mission while other missions are received through Yuuki Mishima's chat messages, certain Confidants or certain part-time jobs. Certain Confidants require specific requests to be cleared before ranking them up further. Due to plot reasons, the group can only access and complete missions up until December 23rd.
List of Enemies
In general, shadows that spawn in Mementos are the ones that were already encountered in previous Palace dungeons, with some shadows being exclusive to Mementos. Mementos will generate new floors based on story progress and act similar to Devil's Peak and the Mikage Ruins from Megami Ibunroku Persona. The Reaper can also spawn if the party stays in the same floor for about 2 minutes.

As it is considered a proper Palace instead of a part of Mementos' default paths, the layout here is structured, and the Reaper will not appear. Despite this, in Royal, all EXP and Money bonuses that are obtained from Jose's Stamps apply here.
Final Heist: Mementos
The Depths take the form of a prison resembling a mixture of structures made of rock and iron, as well as what appears to be the carcasses and skeletons of massive creatures in the background. The rock pillars consisting the terrain of the Depths are printed with marks resembling butterflies, and if one breaks a container (resembling golden cages just like the objects from upper Mementos), blue butterflies emerge within it. Tile-based security puzzles block further progress until they are solved. In order to solve these puzzles, the protagonist must interact with the panel, which activates the tile puzzle. When the puzzles are activated, the panel and the floor lights up in yellow. In order the solve the puzzle, the floor must be walked over until all of its lights become blue. The panel must then be interacted with, removing the barricade and allowing progress deeper into the prison complex. Later on, some panels are already blue by default, and deeper into the complex, the puzzles will reset themselves after a 10-step limit. Two will require an extra red disk to open an empty room so the puzzle can be cleared, which was respectively guarded by a mid-boss (an Abaddon in the regular version, replaced by a pair of Thrones in Royal) and a series of smaller puzzles.
During the ascent, the Thieves will confront the four archangels before the final battle against the Holy Grail commences. While being Shadows, these Archangels act in a way similar to their original Shin Megami Tensei counterparts. For each Archangel they defeat, the cognition of the masses awakens and the people of Tokyo become more aware of their surroundings, panicking as all electronic appliances and radio equipment such as phones refuse to function, along with a few people starting to vanish, much to their horror.
Despite their efforts, Yaldabaoth's Rays of Control knocks them back, seemingly rendering him victorious. However, Morgana now makes an announcement to the public and tells them to cheer the Phantom Thieves. The public at first were doubtful but began to cheer them on as Yuuki Mishima encourages them, bursting the Phantom Thieves' popularity from 0% to 100% in an instant. The protagonist's confidants unanimously support him and his teammates and they cheer them on. The reverse manipulation of the masses' cognition allows a comeback, and the protagonist awakens Arsène into Satanael who finishes a shocked Yaldabaoth with one Sinful Shell. Yaldabaoth ruefully acknowledges Igor's claims and reverts back into the lifeless Holy Grail, cementing the Phantom Thieves' final victory and first true rebellion.
After the Holy Grail and its true form Yaldabaoth, the God of Control, is defeated, Mementos dissipates and Tokyo returns to its former state as if the destruction never happened. The Metaverse is sealed from the real world and Mementos is exiled from reality forever. Due to the masses being liberated from its control, they were more willing to speak of Shido's crimes and are willing to support the protagonist's release from juvenile hall afterwards. However, the disappearance of Mementos comes with the side effect that Morgana will disappear due to his existence being tied with it, but due to him forever being in the Thieves' hearts, he returns to the real world as a normal house cat.
Treasure
Persona 5 Royal
Main article: Path of Da'atIn Royal, search objects are added to the Depths, and several areas to use the grappling hook to find treasure chests are added. Notably, the Depths of Mementos is the only major dungeon in the game to not have any Will Seeds at all.
After defeating Yaldabaoth, the Depths of Mementos are left destroyed. Upon returning to Mementos, available from January 13th, instead of leading to the depths, past the Path of Iweleth is the Shrine of the Holy Grail, which has been compressed into the Hall of the Grail. An escalator ascends upwards into the Path of Da'at, which becomes the ninth path and true ending of Mementos.
