Synopsis
The MC12 is based on the Ferrari Enzo Ferrari. Maserati designed and built the MC12, codenamed the "Maserati MCC" during development, on the Enzo Ferrari's chassis, but the MC12 is much larger and has a lower drag coefficient. The MC12 was developed to mark Maserati's return to racing after 37 years. The MC12 GT1, a race car on which the MC12 road car would be based, succeeded in the FIA GT towards the end of the 2004 season.
Drivetrain
The MC12 features a derivative of the Enzo Ferrari's 6.0 L (5,998 cc) F140 V12, codenamed M144A. The MC12 produces 624 hp (465 kW) and 480 ft·lb (651 N·m) of torque. The Maserati Cambiocorsa transmission used in the MC12 is a six-speed sequential semi-automatic transmission based on the one used in the Enzo. The MC12 also has a lower redline of 7,500 rpm with a fuel cutoff threshold of 7,700 rpm. The MC12 is capable of 0 - 60 mph (97 km/h) in 3.7 seconds and 0 - 100 mph (161 km/h) in 8 seconds.

The MC12 was developed to mark Maserati's return to racing after 37 years. The MC12 is longer, wider, and taller and has a sharper nose and smoother curves than the Enzo Ferrari, which has faster acceleration, better braking performance (shorter braking distance), and a higher top speed of 217 mph (350 km/h) compared to the MC12's 205 mph (330 km/h).
The MC12 features a removable roof panel, allowing it to be a targa top supercar. Unlike the Enzo, the MC12 features no rear window.

Forza Edition
It can be bought from the skill tree of the Maserati 300 S, but has also been made unlockable as a seasonal reward.
The 2005 Maserati MC12 GT1 is a GT racing variant featured in Forza Motorsport 3 and Forza Motorsport 4.
Versione Corsa
The 2008 Maserati MC12 Versione Corsa is a track-oriented variant featured in Forza Horizon and Forza Horizon 4 since Update 9.
The 2008 Maserati MC12 Versione Corsa - abbreviated as MC12 Corsa '08 - is a pre-tuned variant of the Maserati MC12 featured in Forza Horizon and Forza Horizon 4 since the Series 9 patch as a Hard-to-Find car.

Synopsis
The MC12 Versione Corsa was developed directly from the MC12 GT1 race car. It is the successor to the Forza Motorsport 2 as part of the Ferrari FXX, based on the Ferrari Enzo Ferrari (the car that the MC12 is based on), while the owners are private individuals, Maserati is responsible for the storage, upkeep, and maintenance of the cars, and they are only driven on specially-organized track days. Unlike the FXX, Corsas are not used for research and development, only entertainment.
The MC12 Versione Corsa uses a 6.0L (5,998 cc) V12 engine directly sourced from the MC12 GT1, with 756 hp (564 kW) at 8,000 rpm and 523 ft·lb (709 N·m) of torque. It is otherwise identical to the MC12 Corsa.
