Description
This mod makes possible for the character's hair to grow overtime, with physical changes organized in five stages of hair growth that will gradually increase from one to five in a specific period of time, upon changing a stage, one hair matching its size group will be chosen randomly. It's also possible to change your hairstyle to one of a previous stage or within the current stage, with three equippable items, like the clip, that sets it to a tied up version of itself. Upon equipping it, a matching random hair will be chosen, if you don't like it, you can re-equip it and a different one will be chosen. This item also lets you keep a specific not categorized hair unaltered.
Features
- Change hair meshes overtime based on five states of hair growth.
- Wear a clip to tie your character's hair, and let it loose again.
- Switch hairstyles inside a stage with a comb. (NEW)
- Go back a stage using hair scissors. (NEW)
- Keep a custom hair with no alterations overtime.
- Categorize other hairstyles and keep their information stored. (NEW)
- Compatible with custom races and genders.
- Compatible with time waiting or sleeping.
Demonstration
A quick demonstration of the Hair Growth for Fallout 3 mod's features, which also works as a tutorial for its correct use.
Quick Use Guide
Getting Started
Extract the files on your Fallout 3 Data folder, if the icons aren't showing, try extracting the ".bsa". If you get the items, the mod's working, be ware that it won't start until after the prologue and you're out of vault 101 .
About Categorized Hair
Those are the hairstyles recognized by the mod and the ones your hair will change into each stage.
About Hair Change & Time Passing
You can change it on Wadsworth or the console normally, just remember to remove the clip first. After it, the mod will need a few seconds to update. Wait or sleep also won't interfere with the mod's features.
About Custom Hair
If using an uncategorized hair, you will be asked to set its group, four can be stored, the older ones will be overwritten.
Prevent Hair Change
A "Hair Clip" item will be equipped initially if using an uncategorized hairstyle, which prevents changes.
Change Hairstyle to Tied Up Version
The hair clip also changes your hairstyle into a tied up version, if you're using a categorized hair or if you reequip it.
Go Back a Hair Stage
There's another item on your inventory named "Hair Scissors", your hair will go back a stage if you use it.
Change Hairstyle Within Stage
Another item is the "Hair Comb", using it changes your hairstyle to another one within the stage.
Messages & Activation
You can deactivate the messages or the mod itself on the "+ Hair Growth Config +" menu on your inventory.
About Custom Races
If you use a custom race, you need to set its age on the "+ Hair Growth Config +" menu on the Pipboy.
Hair Stage Period
The default hair change period is 36 in-game hours, you can customize it on the "+ Hair Growth Config +" menu.
Uninstalling
Delete the mod's files from your Fallout 3 Data folder, then save your game.
Complete Instructions
Getting Started
Download the mod, extract it at your Data folder, then organize the mod to load after it's masters and activate it. If the icons are not showing, try extracting the .BSA file. If in-game you receive an item named "Hair Clip", then everything should be working fine, be ware that the mod won't start until you're pass the game's prologue and out of vault 101 .
About Categorized Hairstyles
These are the hairstyles recognized by the mod, upon changing a stage the mod will randomly select one of the options available, in case you use an item to change your hair, it will select an option within the stage, not repeating itself, until all options were played. The vanilla hairstyles are also categorized, but only to identify which stage you are initially, the mod won't select them.
About Hair Change & Time Passing
You can change your hair via console or other means like Wadsworth on Megaton or Godfrey on Tenpenny Tower normally. Simply remove the clip, edit it, and wait a few seconds for the mod to update. Just keep in mind that the clip will be equipped again if it's not a categorized hair. Waiting and sleeping also won't interfere with the mod's features, the hours and days will be counted the same way.
About Custom Hair
If it's an unrecognized hairstyle, from another mod for example, an window will pop up after exiting the edit menu asking you to select a group for it, then it'll store its info, this can be done four times, after that, the next one will overwrite the first one and the second and on.
Prevent Hair Change
An item brought from the mod is the Hair Clip, your character will start with it unattached if it's a categorized hair, but if it's not, it'll be equipped automatically, which initially prevents changes to happen. Without the clip, your hair will grow overtime and will be susceptible to changes through other items, you can use this feature to keep a custom hairstyle unaltered.
Change Hairstyle to Tied Up Version
Re-equipping the clip with a categorized hair will change it randomly to a tied up version, matching the current growth stage, unequipping it will change it back to its loose counterpart (Bear in mind that if you have the clip on, the changes overtime won't be visible until you take it off).
Go back a hair stage
There's an item called "Hair Scissors" on the apparel section of the Pipboy, if you equip it, upon exit the Pipboy your hair will recede a stage to a previous one, unlike the hair clip, the item will be unequipped still on the interface menu.
Change hairstyle within hair stage
On the apparel section of the Pipboy there's a new item named "Hair Comb", like the scissors, upon using it, your hair will change into a different one within your current hair stage.
Recovering Mod Items
In case you lost your items somehow, you can go to any npc that changes your hair or face, or even open the Race Menu through console, upon exiting the edit menu (no changes need to be made), you'll recover the items.
Messages & Activation
A message will be shown depending on your current stage, that feature, like the mod itself, can be turned off through an item from the "aid" section of the Pipboy named "+ Hair Growth Config +".
About Custom Races
If you're using a custom race, the mod will ask you to specify its age on the menu, that will open automatically, there are two options "2" for adult and child, and 3 for an older race. If you are in doubt, leave it at "2".
Hair Stage Period
Your hair will change stages in a default period of 36 game hours, it is possible to configure this on the "+ Hair Growth Config +" menu at the "aid" section of the Pipboy, there are two variables named Multiplier (Default: 2) and Base (Default: 18), the number in hours in which the hair stage will change, will be the product of their multiplication. To change it to 18 hours for example, you just need to click once on the "decrease multiplier (-1) " button, to change it to 15, then click three times on the "decrease base (-1)" button. The minimum is two hours.
Uninstalling
To uninstall the mod, just remove it's .esp and .bsa files, and the Docs folder (There are two files in it) from your Fallout 3 Data folder, open the game and save it.
