The lego hobbit all characters
Here’s how to find, unlock & buy the hidden characters in this guide for Lego The Hobbit.
Play Tip: The majority of the Lego The Hobbit characters are unlocked from finishing story missions (the 16 Story Mode Levels). Some are just fully unlocked from completing missions, others are made available to purchase with studs. Some characters you could otherwise buy, can be unlocked via cheat codes as well as 8 via Characters Pack downloadable content (DLC)* which appear as blacked out in the bottom row of the character select screen. All of which are listed below.
How To Buy Characters & Map Tip: There is no one location to buy characters in this game. Instead, you must find them walking around in areas of the overworld, by exploring this Middle-earth open world hub. — This is made quite easy once you access the Map Stones in the area, as the characters appear as big circles of their face on the map and you can set waypoints on them to reach them directly.
When To Buy Characters: Please note, most characters are not able to be purchased until you have finished the 16 Story Mode missions of the game. Also, be sure to have a good amount of studs on you if you plan on trying to buy a few characters in one session.
* There are 8 spots on the character select screen, which are reserved for downloadable content (DLC) characters in the Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4 & PC versions. Which at first will only be available via pre-order, but are sure to be released in two of the three $4.99 paid DLC Packs sometime after the April 2014 release (each with 4 characters in it). – Usually the portable system versions have such characters readily available in-game.
Note: The 8 last spots on the character select screen’s bottom-left side are for the custom characters you can create in Lake-town.

LEGO The Hobbit is a video game that was released on the 8th of April, 2014 (along with the Blu-Ray release of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug) in North America and on the 11th of April, 2014 in other territories. It was released on the Xbox 360, Xbox One, Wii U, PS3, PS4, 3DS, Vita, Mac and PC.
The game is set around the first two films of Peter Jackson's The Hobbit trilogy, An Unexpected Journey and The Desolation of Smaug. The Battle of the Five Armies storyline was announced by WB at the official press release to be releasing as DLC content following the release of the movie, but WB later shelved the content altogether, stating on Gamespot, on March 16th, 2015, that there would be no adaptions created for the game.
Playable characters include Bilbo Baggins and Gandalf the Grey, alongside all of the dwarves: Thorin, Fíli, Kíli, Óin, Glóin, Dwalin, Balin, Bifur, Bofur, Bombur, Dori, Nori and Ori. Warner Bros. adds that each dwarf will have his own unique ability, mentioning that Bombur can use his belly as a trampoline.
Locations visited include Bag End, Hobbiton, The Misty Mountains, Goblin-town, Mirkwood, Lake-Town, Dol Guldur, Rivendell and The Lonely Mountain presenting Erebor.
Players "will also be able to mine for gems, discover loot from enemies, and craft powerful magical items or build immense new LEGO structures," according to the game's press release, suggesting that Minecraft-esque elements could make their way into the next LEGO adventure.
In March, LEGO The Hobbit: The Video Game DEMO was released for PC [1] .
On January 1, 2019, [2] the game, along with its predecessor LEGO The Lord of the Rings: The Video Game, were both removed from all digital storefronts, such as the PlayStation Store, the Xbox 360 Marketplace and Steam. Consequently, the games were de-listed from The LEGO Group’s website. [3] Users who have previously purchased either game digitally from these storefronts will still able to access them. Physical copies of the games are unaffected by this. [4]

From the makers of the immensely popular LEGO The Lord of the Rings, comes LEGO The Hobbit, inspired by the first two films in The Hobbit Trilogy: The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and the upcoming The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug, productions of New Line Cinema and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures (MGM) as well as the collection of LEGO The Hobbit constructions sets.
The interactive game of LEGO The Hobbit allows gamers to play along with their favorite scenes from the films, and follows the Hobbit Bilbo Baggins as he is recruited by the Wizard Gandalf to aid Thorin Oakenshield and his Company of Dwarves.
Bilbo leaves the comforts of the Shire on a journey through Middle-earth to help the Dwarves reclaim their lost Kingdom of Erebor within the Lonely Mountain. Along the way, he is introduced to ravenous Trolls, dangerous Orcs and, of course, Gollum and his precious Ring. Players will utilize and combine the Dwarves’ unique abilities – often with hilarious results – to solve the most diverse Quests of any LEGO videogame to date.
Key Game Features:
- Explore Middle-earth and visit key locations from the films, including Bag End, and trek through the treacherous High Pass over The Misty Mountains, or discover the depths of Goblin Town, Mirkwood and Rivendell.
- Partake in Treasure Quests, mine for gems, discover loot from enemies, and craft powerful magical items or build immense new LEGO structures.
- Play as your favorite characters from The Hobbit films, including Bilbo, Gandalf, and the Dwarves: Thorin, Fili, Kili, Oin, Gloin, Dwalin, Balin Bifur, Bofur, Bombur, Dori, Nori and Ori. Each has his own special – and quite hilarious – ability. For example, Bombur can be used as a trampoline that enables his companions “belly-bounce” out of danger!
- Collect, combine and forge new items in the Blacksmith Shop using Mithril, the most precious metal in Middle-earth.
- Triumph in a game of riddles and learn to wield the power of The One Ring.
- Play with family and friends with easy access drop-in, drop-out gameplay option. (Available on console only, two controllers required.)
- Play with family and friends using wireless play. (3DS and Playstation Vita only and two copies of the game required.)
Frequently Asked Questions
Question: How do I find the location of a character, brick or any other item I want to collect/unlock?
Answer: We get asked many variations of this question on the walkthrough page for each Lego game. That’s why, especially for YOUR questions, we have made HUGE guide pages to answer how you can get all unlockable characters and every type of collectible. Please look at the “Index of Lego The Hobbit Guides” list at the top of this page to choose where to click to get help.
On those pages (linked to from the “Index of Lego The Hobbit Guides” list above) we show you in-game video guides that have voice-over tips and accompanying text that reveals every little detail. You can find everything you need to get 100% in Lego Lord of the Rings on this website’s pages. So please have a look around and enjoy yourself. 🙂
Question: What are the new features in Lego The Hobbit?
Answer: Watch new gameplay for Lego The Hobbit, the Lego adaptation of the first two films in Peter Jackson’s Hobbit trilogy, featuring gameplay from the Goblin King’s underground lair. Watch on for the dwarves’ special abilities, new ‘buddy up’ system, building mini-game and wizard-susceptible blue Lego pieces.
Question: How does the open world HUB work?
Answer: The HUB is much bigger than in the past, with the addition of HUB interiors where the player can now actually go inside Hobbit houses, find secret tombs, cellars and even navigate through long lost Elven and Dwarven ruins.
There are also more hidden treasure items implemented. There is a whole new set of bizarre and wonderful items to hunt down in the levels surrounding the game. The items can be used to enhance abilities and are the key to unlocking new quests in our new quest chain system.
Question: What does the new LOOT do?
Answer: The addition of “loot” in Lego The Hobbit will also mean that you can craft new items in the Blacksmith by mining hidden LEGO Ore found around Middle-earth and in story events. Orcs, Goblins and Wargs also carry loot items that can drop when they are defeated and can be used later in the Blacksmith forge to make a brand new Mithril Weapon. Get good at forging and you may even be able to forge “perfect” items that glimmer and shine to show their true craftsmanship.
Question: How can you change the game’s time for night to day & viceversa?
Answer: Find a campfire on the map. The campfires don’t show up until you reach the level with the forest elves. -Thanks for the tips to Marisa & Andreapappa.
Question: Where in the game can you create custom characters?
Answer: This video guide shows the in-game location of the character creator in Lake-town.
Question: Where in the game can you create custom ride-able creatures?
Answer: This video guide shows the in-game location of the creature creator at Beorn’s Homestead.
Question: Where do the character voices & music come from?
Answer: The orchestral music and voice-acting in the Lego The Hobbit video game all comes straight from the first two movies of the Hobbit Trilogy. The game uses the original soundtrack and actor’s voices. Although, because of the serious tone of the movies, the game creators have add a lot of (often silent) slap-stick comedy and certain movie scenes have been changed by adding humor to be more family friendly for players.

Level 1: Greatest Kingdom in Middle-earth
Welcome to the fantastic Lego The Hobbit walkthrough! Brian will be your guide with voice-over commentary tips who shows you around the game’s awesome levels.
Thorin’s 13 team up for a hilarious and exciting adventure toward the Dwarven Kingdom of Erebor. Grab a buddy and prepare to trek across Middle-earth. Lego The Hobbit takes teamwork to a whole new level, allowing players to “buddy-up” as Thorin Oakenshield and the Company of Dwarves plus one Hobbit, as together they can perform new abilities and special attack moves.
Let’s have some fun! 😀
Level 1 Intro: The adventure began long ago in a land far away to the east. There was the city of Dale, peaceful and prosperous. For this city lay before the doors of the greatest kingdom in Middle-earth, Erebor. It was the stronghold of the mightiest of the dwarf lords Thror, King under the Mountain.
The “Master Burglar” stud requirement in Level 1 is: 130,000 studs.
Saving Tip: Use a Save Statue if you need a rest. Press the action button/key to activate it. Press B on Xbox, Circle on PlayStation, or A on Wii U.
Level 2: An Unexpected Party
Level 2 Intro: The Hobbit is a curious creature; brave and resilient, yet undeniably a creature of comfort. It is here at The Shire that we begin our tale of Bilbo Baggins of Bag End.
The “Master Burglar” stud requirement in Level 2 is: 70,000 studs.
Orange Handles Pulling Tip: Large characters and those with certain strengthening items can lift LEGO Objects with big orange handles.
Level 3: Azog the Defiler
Level 3 Intro: After a long journey through The Shire and beyond, Bilbo and Gandalf the Grey caught up to the company of Dwarves. Their adventure was about to begin…
The “Master Burglar” stud requirement in Level 3 is: 25,000 studs.
Silver Lego Bricks Destroying Tip: To destroy Silver Lego Bricks you’ll need a character that can throw explosives at them, such as Saruman in Rivendell who costs only 50,000 studs to buy.
Level 4: Roast Mutton
Level 4 Intro: The company took shelter for the night in the deserted ruins of a farm. Why this farm was deserted, seemingly in great haste, proved a mystery. However, it was certainly no small thing that destroyed the farmhouse.
The “Master Burglar” stud requirement in Level 4 is: 50,000 studs.
Level 5: The Troll Hoard
Level 5 Intro: The wisdom of Gandalf is seldom incorrect, and surely enough the company stumbled across the Trolls’ hoard. In this hidden trove of goods, stolen from unwary adventurers and raided caravans, who knew what wonders may be found?
The “Master Burglar” stud requirement in Level 5 is: 65,000 studs.
