Lego the lego movie videogame xbox one
Another smash-and-collect game featuring everyone’s favorite building toy. This time around, it’s based on the new animated movie and offers many of the hilarious characters fresh off the screen. A little bit of fresh gameplay livens up this entry, but a few story and camera problems hamper the experience somewhat. Ultimately, The LEGO Movie Videogame is great fun and perfect for fans of the fantastic plastic.
While they didn’t necessarily reinvent the wheel (well, in one scene they kind of did) this installment in the LEGO series of games does what LEGO does best and it’s purely fun to play. Now if I could only get this stupid song out of my head.
TT Fusion followed instructions to create this game’s foundation, but the art on top of it is the work of master builders. The visuals are a surprising hook in this Lego entry.
The art direction shines, although it could be closer to the source. And even though in local co-op it is as entertaining as any Lego game, the movie conversion can’t hide that mechanically it is merely a risk free collection of everything we got to know over the last few years.
If you enjoy excellent, funny voice acting and the simplicity of just exploring areas and collecting items, you'll find a lot to like. [May 2014, p.76]
A fun LEGO game, but not among the best that the series has to offer, which is a real shame as the story going on around the average levels is top notch and probably one of the best. If you’ve seen the The LEGO Movie though then you can probably give The LEGO Movie Videogame a miss without too many regrets.
This is by no means a bad game, quite the contrary. When it comes to movie tie-ins, The LEGO Movie Videogame is one of the better ones. Compared to other recent LEGO games, though, it still feels like a considerable step back.
Fans of The LEGO Movie are in for a treat, and kids wanting to experience Emmet’s adventures as opposed to just watching them are definitely in for a thrill ride. However, anyone growing tired of the LEGO game formula will likely find nothing here to reignite that love.
While not everything is awesome, The Lego Movie Videogame should be just the ticket if you're ready to spend another 10 to 12 hours in the fantastic world of animated plastic blocks.
Amusing scenarios and eye-catching environments are a plus, as is the wide unlockable hero roster, but most of the missions feel like an unimaginative retread of the same LEGO game formula.
Funny enough, easy enough and familiar enough to feel like an old friend, but this doesn't offer the excitement we expect from a series taking its second step onto a new platform. [Apr 2014, p.81]
As a huge fan of Lego games, I've been disappointed by The LEGO Movie Videogame. Of course the title aims at seducing young fans of the film, but is it a reason to ruin the content and the direction? Of course we find humor, platforming riddles and stuff to collect which became the renown of previous titles, but the result is not quite as enjoyable. If we limit ourselves to the bad direction, the crappy music, the bugs and lags will still be enough to displease most achievement hunters. But even the content of the game sucks, fewer characters than usual, a light life, easy progression. As it seems it's not that easy to make a good LEGO game from a great LEGO film. Next try in 2017 with LEGO the movie 2!
The LEGO Movie Video Game is not a bad game, and it's a pleasure to have the cast and playgrounds from the movie in front of our eyes again. But it suffers from rhythm and playability issues as well as a lack of imagination. Too bad, Emmet deserves better.
The new title from TT Games lacks some of the magic of previous LEGO Games, with the movie’s charisma getting somewhat diluted in the video game translation. We also didn’t like the game lacking any voices localization to Italian, while other European languages like french, German and spanish are fully represented: this makes it much less accessible to young players.
Sadly, LEGO The Movie Videogame fails to live up to the expectations set by both it’s source material and its video gaming forebears.
Underwhelming is probably the best way to describe The Lego Movie Game; sticking too closely to the movie, lacking in the fun factor, having little character of its own as a result, feeling padded and most certainly rushed to coincide with the movie launch.
As the song in the film, "everything's not awesome" with this one (camera, screen tearing. ), but it still delivers a ton of content and a solid promise of fun if you plan to play it with a kid, In some ways, it's a more open-world-focused offering than other LEGO licensed games, that brings back some ideas lost in LEGO Worlds.
The Lego series is not typically as evolutionary as videogames usually are. But with The Lego movie 2: the videogame, TT games drastically changes their way to offer us a title which explores an unseen way of playing in the main Lego series. A twist that is reminiscent of their forgotten Lego worlds and that seems to fit perfectly here. Hopefully, an open door to the future of the saga.
The LEGO Movie 2 Videogame might seem like business as usual, but it's the addition of sandbox bits, the slew of items and gadgets, and the emphasis on exploration and puzzles that make TT's latest LEGO foray a cut above. Everything is (relatively) awesome.
The levels are well-designed, whilst the questing, building freedom and gathering of tools helps it to standout from many of the other LEGO titles. Throw in the massive amount of items and characters, plus the exciting relics, and there’s a lot to like. Unfortunately, it’s lacking in the storytelling department, has far less longevity than one would expect for the price and often repeats objectives for the side quests. Oh, and it’s frustrating to have so many technical problems.
The Lego Movie 2 Videogame rarely pushes the player to do anything other than go into their building menu to select one object, and ends up being a shockingly bland experience in a series that has been mostly consistent in doing fun things with different properties.
The LEGO Movie 2 Videogame feels like a rushed attempt to release something by the movie's release: it sports some nice ideas like not having to swap characters to use all the abilities, but it's got several technical problems and the lack of spoken dialogues feels like a step back for the series.

The game is fun to play and even has some free dlc that although it does not have achievements attached is still fun to play. Really nice to get something free for a change. This game has restored my faith in the Lego franchise as I really love them and will probably not feel compelled to wait for a sale next time. Please keep them coming. These are the only games that I always look forward to playing and even though there are small issues with most of them I always end up having fun. There is always a lot of creativity and imagination put into these games and on top of that they are very funny. They usually have a lot of respect and knowledge of the source material and I feel they could make a Lego game out of almost any work of literature and do it justice. Fans of the LEGO series will no doubt be satisfied with the amount of content that’s available. It will keep you more than occupied for hours on end. The LEGO Movie 2 Videogame wasn’t my most enjoyable LEGO experience, but it still provided me with fun and enjoyable moments. Right off the start, you’re introduced to the usual LEGO style presentation and this is always good, because I’ve always enjoyed the style that’s present in both the visual and sound design present in the LEGO games. I don’t like though are the technical issues that come along with it and once again they’re unfortunately present here (mainly controls). I was however able to look past these issues during my play through and it kept me occupied because playing as each character was a fun and different experience. The story I did lose some interest in it a few times during my time with the game. The content the game rectified the issues presented and I started having fun because there’s plenty to see and do with all of the customization throughout. Even though the LEGO formula isn’t as fresh as it once was it still does enough to bring back my fond memories of playing with my legos as a child, and if you look past the small issues that are present I’m sure you’ll enjoy what The LEGO Movie 2 Videogame brings to the huge franchise. This LEGO game is a lot like LEGO City. Instead of playing through the levels of the game (which would highlight scenes from the source movie) This LEGO game is a lot like LEGO City. Instead of playing through the levels of the game (which would highlight scenes from the source movie) this just has you doing "quests" in each world. Unto itself it would be OK although LEGO games are better when they stick to the source.
What makes this one of the worse LEGO games in a while is the features that were added and the bugs. In an attempt to make this fresh and new they removed everything that made the old LEGO games fun. There are no more red and gold bricks to collect. instead you either find or are given magic bricks as you complete quests. These are not used for anything other than unlocking a final world and moving the story along (because you have to get so many before you can go to the next world). Red bricks are replaced by red equipment that you can put on (one at a time). No more x2 multipler or character detector here.
This is where this game goes from traditional to "over the cliff" bad. You can smash glowing chests (which regenerate by simply moving away from them and coming back) to get studs (which are mostly useless) and "relics". There are several different types of relics that give you characters, items or stuff to build. The problem is that they are completely random so you will get more and more dups as you open more. Furthermore the relics can only be opened by going to a store so after you traverse a world you'll then spend an extra 10 minutes at the store opening each relic and sitting through the same cut scene each time. This is beyond boring. Then you will likely find that you already have the item. If you have a dup then you get a "gold relic part" instead. Get enough of these and you get a gold relic that contains 3 items, one of which should be unique. Rinse and repeat. I have no idea why this system was added or how this is fun but this is one of the dullest activities I've ever sat through in a LEGO game. It adds absolutely no value but you have to do it otherwise you cannot unlock (eventually) characters and builds you need to move on. This idea needs to be buried and never brought back up as a good idea ever again.
Given the "relic" stuff you no longer have any special character abilities. It is completely generated by the items you have. As such there is no reason to switch characters. This is a good thing because all but the core story characters are generic anyway (pizza guy, Bob, etc). But since any character can do everything why would you switch?
Given the large amount of things to do you pretty much need a checklist if you want to do it all. The only detector available is locked behind the random red relic generator so it could take you minutes or days to get it. Even then it is only useful for the magic bricks. I thought we had moved beyond games that required you to manually track 400 collectibles?
Finally this game is buggy. The camera angle seems to have taken a step back. As you get too close to scenery (which you do all the time as you climb stairs, go into tunnels, etc) the camera basically goes out of control. It is like a student project that they borrowed for the game. Aren't graphics programmers supposed to have solve these kinds of problems a decade ago. This just screams amateur or rushed. Given the bad camera angles you'll fall off into scenery a lot. In some cases it is harmless, in others you die.
If you were to place all the LEGO games out and asked someone to find the earliest this game seems like it would be a contender. The oddball design decisions, the bad camera angles, the lack of any real story and the lackluster character list scream of a first attempt. Yet this is the latest LEGO game. Unless you are a LEGO fanatic skip this game and go replay one of the good ones. … Expand

LEGO The Lord of the Rings.
LEGO Call of Duty
